This post is going to be short and sweet today, folks, because I’m off to the Asheville DMV soon to attempt to get my Real ID and my North Carolina tags. I’ve been driving around with expired tags for a month because there was not a regional DMV appointment to be had until now, and The Boyfriend had to make the appointment for me and send me the list of documents I need to bring and road signs I need to identify because after studying for the National LMFT exam last year, I have no bandwidth for any kind of test-taking procedural.
Personally, I think if you make it to 61, and you’ve had a license in another state and you’re not on The FBI Most Wanted List, and you can pay your fees, they should just give you new tags and plates and a Welcome to North Carolina t-shirt and not inflict any more torture on you, because at this age, haven’t we all given just a little too much time and money to the damn DMV?
I will attempt to have a better attitude when I enter the place at 8:00 a.m.
"… I told that girl I can start right away
When she said, "Listen, babe, I got somethin' to say
I got no car and it's breaking my heart
But I've found a driver and that's a start" (Beatles: "Baby You Can Drive My Car")
Well, it was fun and fortuitous to run into you at the tag place, so there’s that!❤️
